The Volkswagen ID.7 is the Flagship Model in VW’s EV family

The ID brand of electric vehicles by Volkswagen has been a thriving success with the ID.4 SUV, and will only be getting better with the nostalgic ID.Buzz based on the original VW Microbus. To round out the electric offerings, Volkswagen is bringing their new flagship EV, the ID.7 to market with up to 386 miles of range and 56 cu.ft. of space with the rear seats folded, among other great features. 

Sales Success

Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said: “In the first nine months of the year, we increased deliveries of our all-electric models by 31.8 percent to 273,000 vehicles. The ID.7 has the potential to give this another significant boost since this new product line marks the arrival of electric mobility in this important class.”

A True Flagship

The new ID.7 will be the first electric sedan from Volkswagen At launch, the ID.7 will be available with a new drive system called the APP 550, which they say is the most powerful and efficient motor ever put in an electric VW. When drivers have their navigation system guiding them to a destination and the Electric Vehicle Route Planner active, the battery is pre-conditioned automatically to reduce charging times when charging at a DC fast charging station. 

The new DCC® adaptive damping system is an optional feature. Because of these new adaptive dampers, the ID.7 will be more comfortable for all passengers on a variety of driving surfaces, and will also help the vehicle remain planted during cornering. There will be three driver selectable modes, Eco, Comfort, and Sport, as well as an Individual mode that can be programmed by the driver. The ID.7 also features an updated steering system that increases driver control and more sensitive steering when going faster or driving in a sporting manner. 

Safety & Parking Assist Features

With the introduction of the new ID.7, it will feature some of the best safety and driver-assistance features, especially new park assist systems. Park Assist Plus and Park Assist memory will be standard on all models and aids the driving in and out of parking spots. The ID.7 will take control of the throttle, brakes, and steering functions. Park Assist is a memory function for Park Assist Plus that allows the vehicle to record about 54 yards of the vehicle’s travel to be used to park the vehicle for drivers at the push of a button. This is great to use in a tight home garage, or a parking garage at work that drivers use a lot. Upon reaching the destination users can push a button and the ID.7 will park itself in the designated parking space that you have recorded. Travel Assist will be able to change lanes for drivers above 56 mph, including predicting upcoming corners, roundabouts, and junctions. If the vehicle is coming up to a corner and believes it is too fast, the vehicle will display a warning message saying “corner ahead” plus a recommended speed. 

Exit Warning

When passengers open a door, the ID.7 will alert them to vehicles or bicycles that are approaching as a caution so no one gets injured.
