Exciting Debut Of The Volkswagen ID.7
What an exciting time to be into electric cars as Volkswagen has announced the premiere of their new electric-only sedan called the ID.7.
VW has recently announced that they plan on investing roughly $200 billion on their battery electric vehicle program. Worldwide they have already sold almost 600,000 EVs in 2022 between five different models. However, in the United States, that number was only 20,511 since we only have one model here, the ID.4 crossover. However, that is still solid for an electric car from a brand that’s just starting to make EVs for the American market.
Usable Futuristic Tech Now
For 2024 the ID.7 will be Volkswagen’s first foray into the electric mid-size car segment and will also be the first car to feature their all-new 15-inch infotainment system and augmented reality head-up display with a 14-speaker, 700-watt Harmon Kardon surround sound system. You’ll be able to option a panoramic roof with the ability to change its opacity of it, as well as massaging seats and a brand new feature called Climatronic for the front seats. The idea here is that it will work similarly to auto climate control. When enabled, the seats will automatically warm or cool you, and it even has a drying feature.
Power And Range
With 282 horsepower, it will have the most power of any electric VW to this point. Range for the new ID.7 is expected to be as much as 435 miles, depending, of course, on the trim level and battery size you spec with your particular car. It will have the ability to achieve 200 kW of DC fast charging. The power unit for the new car will be the APP550 system, which was developed by Volkswagen specifically for the new ID.7.
Size and Style
The new sleek electric will be 195.3 inches long with a drag coefficient of .23, depending on the equipment, according to Volkswagen. Even better, the ID.7’s rear opens up as a hatchback, which is absolutely the best. You get to have a vehicle that looks like a sedan with rounded-off body lines but with a crossover/SUV-like hatch that will allow you to have far more room than a normal trunk. And you will be able to put the rear seats down for even more space.
Driver Automation
Volkswagen also says the ID.7 will feature Level 2 driver automation. Level 2 is considered partial automation, which allows the vehicle to steer and accelerate for the driver. However, you must still manage the car and be willing and able to take over at any time.
The brand new ID.7 will go on sale in America sometime in 2024. To find out more and be notified when the ID.7 arrives at Volkswagen of Duluth, contact us today.
